The Relationship Between Fulfillment of Hospital Disaster Plan Standards and the Readiness of Muhammadiyah Tuban Hospital Staff in Facing Earthquake Disasters

Abstract

Background: The location of Muhammadiyah Tuban Hospital which is very close to the beach increases the risk of loss of life and property if an earthquake occurs originating in the Java Sea, therefore, it is necessary to assess the completeness of the hospital disaster plan standards and measure staff readiness in dealing with earthquakes, so that if a disaster occurs, the hospital can act quickly and remain operational even in the midst of disaster conditions. Objectives : The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between the fulfillment of hospital disaster plan standards and the readiness of hospital staff in dealing with earthquake disasters. Methods: The method used in this study is quantitative with a cross-sectional approach, the number of samples is 75 staff and using questionnaires and observation sheets as research instruments. Results: Muhammadiyah Tuban Hospital has fullfil the Hospital Disaster Plan standards by completing 65 of the 75 existing standards. The level of preparedness of Muhammadiyah Tuban Hospital staff is at the ready level with 63 respondents (84%) and 12 respondents (16%) are at the unprepared level. The results of the contingency coefficient test are 0.342 with a significance of 0.002 indicating a weak relationship between the fulfillment of Hospital Disaster Plan standards and staff preparedness in facing earthquake disasters, but the direction of the relationship cannot be determined. Conclusions: There is a weak correlation between fulfitment of Hospital Disaster Plan standards and the preparedness of Muhammadiyah Tuban Hospital staff in responding to earthquakes.
